The Bound Realm Build Rules

Last updated July 23, 2026

  1. Choose your location with care.

Do not block access to water or points of interest. Leave roads, paths, and shallow waterways open for mounted travel. There should always be a clear path around, if not through, your base.
  2. Use your OOC tag in Creative Mode.

You must activate your OOC tag when using cheat codes to build. Players with approved character status are granted use of these codes to ease building and decorating, allowing players to enter RP sooner. These commands are entered into the chat, not the command prompt under the ` (tilde) key.

    • /cheat creative
    • /cheat nocost
    • /cheat fly
    • /cheat ghost
    • /cheat walk
  3. Build Size

A clan base should reflect the story and size of the clan. A lone, mysterious character may do just fine with a small cottage. Two slavers may need cells, cages, and a training area, requiring a larger compound. You aren’t expected to be minimalist, but the appropriate size differs for every clan. Staff will use judgment with the goals of maintaining server LOD and preserving real estate for new players.

A rough estimate is 1,000 pieces, including building and décor, for a clan of three or fewer, with 200 pieces added for each additional member. This is not a hard rule. Public RP spaces such as bathhouses, taverns, and inns will likely receive leniency. Regardless of member count, Staff may request reductions when a build appears too large for the story of its clan or location. Staff will make every attempt to be fair.

  4. Do not stack foundations higher than two.

If you erect a boundary wall, use fence foundations instead of full foundations to gain more interior room. Boundary walls should be no more than six blocks high, including foundations and fences, and three blocks will often suffice. Boundary walls may not be two walls thick, though ramparts may be built on top.

Note: Before current optimizations, foundations were extremely load-heavy, so many servers replaced them with ceiling tiles and pillars. Those older methods now increase server LOD. Use foundations as intended.

  5. Avoid the Lag.

Vanilla gameplay has been nullified to the point that there should be no need for working benches or storage of vanilla resources beyond food for pets and mounts. Benches, chests, and anything with storage slots cause lag. Avoid them when possible. When you need them, consider using them as actual storage for something you will keep, such as node resources. Sometimes no better item fits the visual you want, so Staff will not be strict about this rule. Treat it as a warning about the performance cost of such décor. Animated objects, including flames and emoting NPCs, also contribute to lag.
  6. No More than 5 NPCs.

This limit includes your Traders. If you place five NPC slaves in your base as décor, you must sacrifice one to place a Trader at a Hub. If you are found violating this rule, you will be asked to open a Moderation ticket.
  7. Clan Territory

Clan territory is OOCly limited to what lies within shout range of the base. A clan may ICly “claim” more territory as antagonism intended to drive RP, but attempting to seize land by unreasonably spreading out buildings will draw unfavorable Staff attention. Land Claim Radius is set to 0.3 so clans can build close together and form settlements without sacrificing autonomy. Sister clanning is permitted, but Staff will intervene if clans behave in ways detrimental to the server. This is a high-conflict setting, but conflict is meant to build stories, not destroy other players’ experiences.
  8. Pets and Mounts

Thralls and wild creatures have been removed from the map. Thralls will not be spawned or sold. Pets and mounts will be sold from HUB settlements and may be traded between players. Pets capable of mechanical combat may be used in Mechanical PVP events. If pets are available for Dice Combat, consult the Dice Rules for that procedure.
